Stonewall RCMP seize drugs and weapons during traffic stop

A suspect vehicle would not stop but the vehicle went out of control.

On March 15, 2023, as part of an ongoing investigation into firearms and drugs, Stonewall RCMP attempted to stop a suspect vehicle on Highway 7 in the RM of Rosser.

The vehicle refused to stop and fled toward Winnipeg. Several other officers were deployed including members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT). A spike belt was deployed which was successful in damaging all four tires. The vehicle continued to drive on the flat tires, and when it attempted to make a sharp turn, the vehicle went off the road and rolled.

Officers arrived at the scene and approached the vehicle. The three occupants initially refused to exit the vehicle, however after a short time they did exit the vehicle and were arrested.

All three adults were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 100 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded firearm with the serial number filed off, brass knuckles, a knife and bear spray.

Two adults were released with no charges.

The driver of the vehicle, Eric Moar, 28, from the RM of Rockwood has been charged with:

    • Flight from Police
    • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm x2
    • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
    • Weapons Possession Contrary to Order x3
    • Possession of a Firearm when knowing Possession is Unauthorized x2
    • Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
    • Unsafe Storage of Firearms
    • Carrying a Concealed Weapon

He was remanded into custody.

Stonewall RCMP continue to investigate.
