Three Virden vehicles stolen and found by Regina RCMP

A rash of car thefts, an historic sexual assault and a child and family services matter were part of last week's cases.

During the week of Sept. 6th to Sept. 12th, the Westman RCMP dealt with 43 police activities including the dispatches to the following:

Sept. 6 – Virden for a report of an unsupervised child walking alone. RCMP attended the mother’s residence with the 4-year-old child. The mother was located inside of the residence asleep. Child Family Services was contacted.

Sept. 8 – Virden for a report of a stolen Chevy Equinox. The keys had been left inside the vehicle. Regina Police Services located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle driver was arrested for several offences as he was found with meth and a modified airsoft gun.

Sept. 8 – Virden for a report of a stolen Ford Taurus. The vehicle was located in Regina the same day. The investigation is ongoing.

Sept. 8 – Virden for a report of a historical sexual assault. The investigation is ongoing.

Sept. 9 – Virden for a report of a stolen Toyota Tundra. The keys to the vehicle had been left in the gas cap. The vehicle was located by the Regina Police Service. The investigation is ongoing.

 Sept. 9 – Virden for a report that five children between the ages of five and nine years were on their scooters without supervision. Patrols were made, however the children had vacated the area prior to police arrival.

Sept. 9 – Sioux Valley for a report of an erratic driver. The vehicle was located at a nearby residence. Subsequent to investigation, a 54-year-old male was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance and transported to the Virden detachment for breath samples. Once at the detachment, he refused to provide samples of his breath so he was charged with failing to comply with the breath demand. The 54-year-old male is also facing several Highway Traffic ACT related charges, and his vehicle was impounded. He was released on a future Court date.

Sept. 10 – Sioux Valley for a report of an impaired driver. A witness observed a female driver drive into the ditch. The female was located, arrested and transported to the Virden detachment. Breath samples of 100mg% and 90mg% were provided. The 30-year-old female driver was charged with operating a conveyance while over 80mg%, and her vehicle was impounded. She was released on a future Court date.

Sept. 11 – Sioux Valley for a report of a female suffering from a mental health crisis. She was transported to the hospital to receive medical assistance.

Sept. 11 – Sioux Valley for a report of an adult male threatening self-harm. After checking several places, the male was located. He was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was therefore transported to the Virden detachment. He was assessed by a doctor and released when sober.

Sept. 11 – a residence in the RM of Pipestone for a report of a female passed out in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. The vehicle was running, and it was reported that the female was slumped over and unresponsive. Subsequent to investigation, the 23-year-old driver was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance. Breath samples of 200mg% and 180mg% were provided. She was charged with operating a conveyance while over 80mg%, and was released on a future Court date. She is also facing several Highway Traffic ACT offences, and her vehicle was impounded. She was released on a future Court date.

Sept. 11 – Sioux Valley for a report of a disturbance at a residence. While police were en route, it was learned that a 34-year-old female was threatening people inside the residence, and also threatened self-harm. She was arrested and transported back to the detachment. Once at the detachment and while being escorted to her cell, she struck one of the officers in the head. She has been charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

Two Covid compliance checks and two wellbeing checks were undertaken during this reporting period.
