On May 21, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Virden RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 3, just east of Road 162 West. When officers arrived on scene, they saw a car flipped over inside the fence line of the property adjacent to the highway.

Initial investigation determined that the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Highway 3 at a high rate of speed when it lost control and rolled several times, going through a fence and landing on its roof. The 19-year-old male driver from Brandon, and lone occupant of the car, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He received emergency medical treatment, but was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist.
