This was the First Annual Night of Inclusion Awards, held in Brandon, part of the Community Living Manitoba program.

Inclusive Educator Award is given to an educator (administrator, teacher, educational assistant, professor) who has made significant contribution through their role in education to foster inclusive learning opportunities for persons with an intellectual disability.

Shannon Walowetz spoke in glowing terms in an email, of Pidborchynski’s work with their son.  “Our son, Findlay, who has autism, has been in her classroom this year. She has been absolutely amazing at supporting our child to connect with his peer group, leading him to make his very first friend!  She has been so incredibly amazing at challenging him just enough to see him excel and exceed so many expectations.”

Becoming more specific Walowetz continued, “She has gone above and beyond in her effort to help us, as parents, feel heard, respected and included in the whole process. She has really been such a blessing in outlives, and we have seen Findlay grow so much this year!  Mrs P is truly a wonderful teacher, and her work with Fin has been truly amazing. She has impacted likely the rest of his life.”
