Westman Nursing Home celebrates

50 years of care

Westman Nursing Home celebrated their 50th Anniversary Friday, Sept. 23 with residents, family, community members, municipal and Prairie Mountain Health representatives.

Leah Black, Prairie Mountain Health Care Team Manager, introduced the guest speakers who included Grant Shoemaker, whose father Albert served on the West-Man Nursing Home's first Board of Directors back in 1970.

Due to the municipal election campaign period, Mayor Murray Wright was unable to speak at the event, but Town of Virden Chief Administrative Officer Rhonda Stewart extended best wishes on behalf of the mayor and council to the West-Man Nursing Home.

Also among guest speakers, Rea Kinnaird, whose father Keith served on the board of directors of the West-Man Nursing Home in its early years, addressed the crowd. Kinnaird, not running in the October municipal election, also brought greetings on behalf of the Rural Municipality of Wallace-Woodworth.
