Princess Lodge By Janice Simpson
June Reimer has moved into Princess Lodge on June 1. Welcome, June. I hope you enjoy your new home.
Gayle Chappell from Calgary visited with Les and Bernice Graham for a few days last week and then went to visit Tim and Heather and family in Rocanville, Sask.
Norma Cole of Red Deer, Alberta spent several days with her mother Alene Welch and her sister Edy and brother-in-law Wayne Clayton in Brandon. A wonderful time to start the summer together.
Summer is ball season. Janice Simpson enjoyed seeing her greatgrandson Zane Hodgins play ball in a tournament on Saturday. He is only five years old, but he is doing really good.
Several of the residents set up tables outside the lodges for the town-wide yard sale on Saturday.
The Royal Purple ladies have planted flowers at the hospital again, so I’ll have my week in June weeding and watering them. Hope we don’t have any more frost until at least November.

Ryan is the son of Steven and Catherine Stowe. Congratulations to Kelly and Chelsea Gardham on the birth of their daughter Lenni Jane, born on May 31. Big sisters Andie and Shay are excited for their little sister as are grandparents Derek and Cory Tumak and Ron and Shelley Gardham and extended family. Congratulations to all! Robin Fleury and Breanne DaGuire, and big brother Rhett welcome the birth of Blaire Molly Marie. Linda Clark and Myrtle Lane travelled with Daryl and Melanie Clark of Ituna, Sask. to Saskatoon to attend the convocation of their granddaughter Ella Clark from the University of Saskatoon with her Bachelor of Science degree. They also enjoyed a visit with grandson Cauy Clark. June is graduation month for the following graduates from our community: Kasey Fouillard, Rhianna Laite, Dawson Lelond, Shane Anderson and Ashten Hawtin. The Collegiate kicked off this special time with a surprise parade at Birtle Collegiate. The Miniota School students and staff gathered with the Birtle staff and students to cheer the grads on. An exciting time for these young people. Enjoy your celebration!  Fred Rogers: “You rarely have time for everything you want in this life, so you need to make choices. And hopefully your choices can come from a deep sense of who you are.”
Evergreen Place By Helen Martens
Far up in the dark blue sky,
Great white clouds are floating by.
All the world is dressed in green,
Many happy birds are seen.
Roses bright and sunshine clear,
Shows that lovely June is here."  - F.G.Sanders
This quote describes our June so well. The Birth Flower for June is the rose, which is the most popular flower in the world. It symbolizes love and appreciation. I don't know why a month has two Birth Flowers, but the honeysuckle is another one for June. It signifies a strong symbol for the everlasting bonds of love. I remember my mother's honeysuckle shrubs by our front door and the scent of those flowers was so strong and so good. We have three birthdays in June: Jack Chapman, Phyllis Gompf and Ed Milne. I wish all three of you a very Happy Birthday. The June birthstone is pearl and alexandrite. If you were born in June that
means you are creative, thoughtful, wise beyond your years, fun-loving and have a big heart.  And special for you Phyllis, women born in June are strong, spirited, and beautiful inside and out. Many reading this have June birthdays, I'm sure. The best to you all.  We joined many others in town with a yard sale this last weekend, June 2 - 4. We were happy with the outcome. Harold and Lynda Spring's daughter Candace, and Ron, visited their parents on Wednesday, June 1, here at Evergreen. Marlene Balzar worked at the library the three days the Book Sale was on, June 2 - 4. They were busy, successful days.
Father's Day is coming up on Sunday, June 19. This next Sunday is the 12th and is called National Peanut Butter Cookie's Day. You may want to bake these special cookies for "Dad"
