Your moments of significance

Sometimes Christmas turns out differently than you thought. Disappointments, joys, surprises are all somehow more memorable during this Season.
Web Headshot Anne Dec. 2020

Readers: you are invited to share your story of a Christmas moment or perhaps something holiday-related. Did you travel one Christmas and find yourself in a snowstorm far from home, or some such unplanned event?

Do you have a family photo or memory (or recipe) you’d be willing to share in the paper?

The Empire-Advance is not only a publication of record, as we try to keep up with the events and occasions, business and politics of our region in these changing times, it is also YOUR VOICE; and particularly so during special occasions such as the Christmas/Holiday Season.

Just as our Community columnists, Janice, Linda, and Helen share personal bits in their columns, what about you?

Last week’s Santa with kids in snowy Victoria Park, parents snapping pictures, helps frame the season. Now, homes and businesses come to life with Christmas lights as evening descends ever earlier for three more weeks. You can’t garden or enjoy a late-day walk, so take a minute and jot down a memory to share.

We continue to publish right up until Dec. 24. The news deadline for that last week in 2021 is Monday, Dec. 20. The paper will take the Christmas week off.

January 2022 deadlines for news items will again be Tuesday at 1 p.m. and the first January edition will be Friday, Jan. 7.

The Christmas Greeting issue is in the planning phase as I write. Now is the moment. Send your pictures, recipes, anecdotes, and items you would like to share to reporter1@empireadvance.ca. If they reach us by Monday, Dec. 6 (final deadline for this issue), we plan to publish these in the Greetings issue.
