Wallace District Fire Department’s training site is expanding. For a water source, oilfield matting is providing a road between the training centre and the Scallion Creek, running north of Virden near the municipal airport.

Now that the excitement and pomp of high school graduation week is over it is time for the K-6 grade students of Elkhorn school to have their special day.

Sergeant Ed Riglinreported 56 calls for service between June 20 and June 28. Five false alarms and 11 traffic tickets occurred during this time frame. June 20 A false alarm to a building in Virden. A report of a break in at a Kola residence.

Canada Day 2016 in Elkhorn had a few different items this year, and in looking back to last week, they made for a great day in the village and at the newly cleared and fenced grounds at the Elkhorn Auto Museum.

Graduation day at Plainview Hutterite Colony School was a bit different this year in that the graduation class of two did not want a big grad ceremony.

The Elkhorn community Splash Park is closer to its $375,000 goal with a recent donation from Tundra Oil and Gas Partnership.
