A very successful weekend was held July 17 to July 19 when the Miniota Community Centre hosted their 24th Annual Shirtsleeve Classic.
BONSPIEL Thirty-two rinks took part in the Bonspiel with the results as follows:
• First Event: 1st Jay Kinnaird, 2nd Curtis McCannell, 3rd Randy McKean, 4th Mac Lelond
• Second Event: 1st Nat Howard, 2nd Murray Foster, 3rd Christel Wilson, 4th Pat MacDonald
• Third Event: 1st Don Armitage, 2nd Tracy Armitage, 3rd Ron Anderson, 4th Brian Scott
• Chris Walwin and Will Draper did an excellent job taking care of the ice despite a very rough start.
GOLF TOURNAMENT Fourty-seven golfers took part in the golf tournament with the following results:

• 8,000 lbs and under and Calvin Bryant Memorial Trophy: 1st Gerry Wilson - Hamiota, 2nd Kyle Gurr - Miniota
• 10,000 lbs and under and Bob Bryant Memorial Trophy: 1st Gerry Wilson - Hamiota, 2nd Kyle Gurr - Miniota

SLO-PITCH TOURNAMENT Seven teams took part.
• A side: 1st All Nations, 2nd Hooper's Lake
• B Side: 1st Sons of Pitches, 2nd Heavy Duty
Other activities over the weekend included two dances, meals on Saturday and Sunday evening as well. For the kids, Twin Valley Co-op allowed us the use of their blowup bouncy castles for the two days. Trevor Clark looked after them. Mid West Recreation District were on hand for face painting and games for the kids and then on Sunday the Miniota Fire Department provided the kids with an opportunity to cool down on a hot day with the annual Fireman's Rodeo. The Miniota Community Centre certainly appreciates all who help out over our weekend; donating time, food or just attending. Remember, next year is our 25th annual, so the weekend will be even bigger and better! It's not too early to enter your rink for next year.
