Most people in the Westman area know about the Elkhorn and area baseball team, known as the Elkhorn Expos. However, there is another Elkhorn Expos team whose members are 10 and under belonging to the mosquito division. There are 14 members of the team with one of them being a girl. The team members come from Elkhorn, Virden, Manson, and McAuley area and operate under the Elkhorn and District Community Center.

Recently at the Elkhorn baseball diamonds the mini Expos played an exhibition game against the Brandon Rockets with a final score of 15- 4 in Elkhorn’s favour. But they will probably face off again in provincial AA finals being held in Boissevain from July 15-17. All during the recent Elkhorn exhibition game the players gave it their best efforts with the help of their coaches who were a constant source of encouragement along with their parents.

The Elkhorn team is coached by Travis Mc- Call and Brent Brennand who said about their involvement, “playing sports help to build not only the physical body but also mental skills. It gives them the discipline, structure, and how to accomplish goals. We enjoy helping and developing the team members during the season to learn good sportsmanship and to have fun.”
