The Virden Oil Capitals have acquired 1997 born forward Jeran Knorr from the Cochrance Crunch of the NOJHL for future considerations.

The Virden Oil Capitals have acquired 1997 born forward Jeran Knorr from the Cochrance Crunch of the NOJHL for future considerations. Knorr who hails from Kelowna, BC had an excellent rookie season in Cochrane, scoring 22 times and adding 36 assists for 58 points in 53 games. He also added 3 assists during a nine game playoff run.

“Jeran had a real productive year last season,” said GM & Head Coach Troy Leslie.

“He will bring size to our forward group along with his ability to provide offense.”

Knorr who measures in at 6’1 and weighs 186 pounds, played his 17 year old year in the KIJHL with the Kelowna Chiefs where he registered five goals and two assists.

Former Oil Caps net minder Ty Edmonds spent this past week in California at the San Jose Sharks summer development camp.

Edmonds, who played 26 games in Oil Country in the 12/13 season, has spent the last three years with the WHL’s Prince George Cougars.

With the Cougars, the Winnipeg native has appeared in 161 games, posting a .896 SVP and a 3.45 GAA in that span.

Edmonds, who becomes the 2nd Oil Cap to be invited to an NHL Development Camp (Patrick D’Amico - NJ Devils) is set to enter his final season of junior hockey.

The Sharks, who are coming off their first Stanley Cup Final appearance, opened camp on Friday July 8th and wrapped it up on Wednesday, July 11th. Edmonds was the 2nd MJHL alumni member to head to an NHL camp this summer. Portage Terrier graduate Brad Bowles spent last week with the Calgary Flames.
