After the Oil Kings wrapped up their 2015-2016 season; finishing the regular season in fifth place with a 8-11-0-1 record, it is time to get things under way for next year.

After a recent team meeting the Oil Kings had a solid commitment from about 75 percent of the team for being back for next year. The Oil Kings Team manager, Matthew Russell said, “No one closed the door to coming back for next year, so that’s good.”

A couple of graduating Oil Capitals players have also shown interest in playing for the Kings.

For next season the Oil Kings are looking for a new head coach to start the year; Doug Roach has stepped down from the position, and are looking to fill his skates.

“We are looking for coaches and board members, we only have four board members.” Russell said, “If guys came forward and would love to help on the bench but couldn’t commit to being a head coach than absolutely we would keep them as an assistant coach and keep looking for a head coach.”

After a recent NCHL meeting; the way the league is sitting right now there will be seven teams in the league; Moosmin Rangers, Miniota- Elkhorn C- Hawks, Grandview Comets, Russell Rams, Virden Oil Kings, Kenton Cougars, and Foxwarren.

The Oil Kings are also going to be having a summer raffle draw with one draw and two prizes, the winners will receive; the first prize is four tickets and 200 dollars spending money, and the second prize is a 250 dollar travel prize.
