Curling News I wonder how many people in Westman watched former Oak Lake curler Janelle Vachon play on TSN when the network covered the "Roar of the Rings" pre-Olympic trials last weekend from Summerside, PEI.

As a 17-year-old rookie, Waskada’s Justin Lee has certainly proven he can compete in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. The Virden Oil Capitals defenceman was chosen as the MJHL’s IBAM Rookie of the Month for October.

Last weekend, the 2018 Skate Canada Manitoba Sectionals were held at Tundra Oil & Gas Place in Virden. Figure skaters came from clubs as far away as Winnipeg and Thompson to compete.

“It was a lot of fun to be in the hunt for the saddle; in the end it was a close finish,” -Joe King. Virden’s Joe King came close to a championship in steer wrestling in this year’s Manitoba Rodeo Cowboys Association Finals.
