Packages carrying drugs, addressed for Norway House and Oxford House  - both Cree Nation communities, have been intercepted.

On July 25, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Winnipeg International Airport RCMP received a report that drugs had been discovered during a security check of cargo being shipped to Bunibonibee Cree Nation (Oxford House).

Initial investigation determined that a male had entered a business adjacent to the airport to arrange to have a large package shipped north. When the package was examined by security employees at the business, it appeared to have been tampered with. On further inspection, cocaine was located inside the package.

Police seized 440 grams of cocaine destined for Bunibonibee Cree Nation.

On July 26, 2021, the same male returned to pick up a different package. He was arrested and 167 T3s destined for Kinosao Sipi (Norway House Cree Nation), and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency were seized.

Joseph Muskego, 36, of Kinosao Sipi, is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine x2, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. Muskego was on parole at the time of his arrest, so he has been remanded into custody.
