Assault in Portage results in serious injury

RCMP is seeking the public's help to find the attackers of a man who was left in serious condition

On Sept. 27, at approximately 12:16 a.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a male who was assaulted with a weapon behind a business on Saskatchewan Avenue West in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

Two suspects were seen fleeing from the location, one on foot and one on a bike. Officers attended and located the injured 41-year-old man from Portage. First aid was provided to him until Emergency Medical Services arrived.

The injured man was taken to a Winnipeg hospital, where he remains in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.

RCMP Police Dog Services arrived on scene, and Police Service Dog Jolt began a track, which led police to recover some evidence as well as a possible last location of the suspects at 10th Street NW and Fisher Avenue.
