VJH Year End Awards Day

Virden Junior High (VJH) students, teachers, and family gathered outside the school for the year-end Awards Day on Jun. 29.

Scholastic awards such as Leadership, Most Improved Student, Most Outstanding Student, Athletic awards, and scholarships were presented to students from Grades 5-8.

Grade 8 students will be moving on to Virden Collegiate High School in the fall. With them they will take the following awards: Leadership Award – Trista Hayward, Emma Gertz, and Ethan Giannico; Most Improved Student Award – Shaina Elk and Jacob Dafoe; Most Outstanding Student Award – Olivia Hayward and Marlee Gonty ; Top Academic Award – Carlee Pearn and Emma Rhodes. The Grade 8 Student with the Top Academic Standard was awarded to Hannah Peters.

“You have been good role models for the younger students, and will be hard to replace,” said Principal Nahachewsky. Fifty-four students lined up and received their Grade 8 diplomas. The event was followed with snacks and refreshments for all.

The Dakota Award for Grade 8, presented by Mrs. Eastman, went to Cayden Chaske and Jolei Cuny.

The MTS Educator’s Award was presented to Jennifer Andrew.
