The 4th Annual Taylor Renwick Memorial Hockey Tournament was held at the Enns Brothers Place February 15 & 16, 2020. Fifty-nine women participated in the tournament, including players from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, North Dakota and Minnesota. Saturday began with the puck drop by Taylor’s nephew Ben with sisters Danielle and Hilary facing off with dad Wink, mom Vicki and brother-in-law Tyson looking on.
Players in the women’s tournament are 18 plus. They may sign up as individuals or groups of three. Teams are compiled based on ability to keep teams equal. Some players play regularly and some haven’t played in many years and some have never played but wanted to try. The players always had smiles on their faces, even on Sunday afternoon when the sore muscles kicked in.
The rink was busy with players, spectators and all the volunteers who helped make the weekend a huge success. Enjoying the great “rink food”, purchasing raffle tickets and watching and playing the sport Taylor loved. Taylor was always grateful for the friends she made playing hockey. The weekend found players and visitors sharing memories with old friends and making new ones.
The final game was played Sunday at 2:00 p.m. between the Green and Blue teams. It was a good game and in the end the Green team was victorious.
We will see you all next year February 13 & 14, 2021 for the 5th Annual Taylor Renwick Memorial Hockey Tournament.
