A simple card can mean so much!

Kenton By Karen Anderson

There were two programs offered in March that could be done at home, all supplies provided and delivered to residents in their homes. Prairie West recreation offered Easter activity Kits which were wooden Easter paintable cutouts and chocolate egg decorating and other fun activities. Hamiota Arts Council received a government grant to offer an at home art project for seniors. This was a print to be completed by watercolor pencils. There was a very good local response because 11 signed up for it from Kenton and three from Miniota.

The Kenton Kids Club made three different Easter paper art for the seniors in Kenton. These were delivered to residents on the Thursday before Easter. The art project was well done and appreciated by the seniors and the Woodworth Senior Services Board.

The regular Foot Clinic was held on March 19 with six clients booked.

Please check the Prairie Mountain Health web page for information of pop up COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics. The COVID-19 vaccine consent form can be picked up at the Kenton RM office or the Woodworth Senior Services Office in Kenton.

A reminder that the Woodworth Senior Services has available a Parking Permit in the office that residents can use when going to appointments. The permit allows you to park in a designated space marked by the wheelchair symbol. It can be used by volunteers taking someone to appointments which may make it easier for them to assist their passengers. This permit can be used for a person who is disabled in such a way as to be unable to walk unassisted for more than 50 meters without great difficulty or danger to the person's health or safety. Please call the WSS office if you can use it.

Evergreen Place By Helen Martens

Hello, Empire-Advance readers, I start my report with a quote by Joseph Grimaldi, "April will not fail to turn out as it should be and as it generally is one of the sweetest, loveliest months of the year. Yes, April is a lovely soul-inspiring, life-invigorating month."

We have already had a week of important days in April. For many of us these have been days of loneliness, and maybe even discouragement.

I can't report a lot about Easter celebrations as far as residents of Evergreen go. With us being in total lockdown, plus so many restrictions, there is so little planning we could do to meet with families this Easter.

Maybe some of you had fun on April 1st. I remember how my Dad would trick us again and again on April 1st, when I was a youngster. I can't resist inserting this question. "Why are people so tired on April 1st? Because they just finished a 31-day March!"

An Easter package from S.A.I.L. was delivered for everyone here at Evergreen. It was a wonderful, thoughtful surprise. It included hand sanitizer, some chocolate Easter eggs, a gift certificate from Ice Cream Island, a Word-Search puzzle book, and a lovely hand drawn Easter card from Goulter Schoolchildren. This is all so appropriate during our self-isolating times. Thankyou kids for the cheerful, lovely cards you drew for us and thank you Audrey Watters for preparing this Easter surprise.

For me, excitement is great when the Flower Attic phones to say they have a delivery for me. That happened and not being able to see any family this Easter, this gorgeous Spring bouquet of flowers was sent by my daughter and son-in-law in Alberta. It brightened up my Easter season.

Some residents ordered an Easter meal from Garden Cafe in Elkhorn. These delicious, hot meals were delivered on Easter Sunday. A big thank you to Garden Cafe.

Irene Rowand and family also ordered and picked up their family special Easter meal from Garden Cafe here.

We had some rain this past week, and we have enjoyed very favorable weather the last while. A country saying: "April weather, rain and sunshine both together."
