To our loyal subscribers

We, the staff of the Empire-Advance, deeply regret the poor delivery service you have received of late. We are aware that since a date in September subscribers’ papers have not been placed into postal boxes for same-day/Friday pick-up as has been customary for many years.

Like you, this change came without warning to us.

We have contacted officials in the postal system requesting assistance to restore our same-day service, but are awaiting confirmation. Canada Post has a three-day window to deliver our newspaper. We are continuing our conversation with the Crown Corporation.

So many of you have phoned us, dropped into the office or emailed us. Some of you several times. We know the paper is important to you. It is your voice in your community and we thank you for your support.

To better serve you and to afford subscribers a timely read of the paper, we are offering to provide your copy at our office Friday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

IF Virden Subscribers WISH to pick up the Friday paper, please contact us via email: accounts@empireadvance.ca or better yet, phone the office at 204-748-3931, prior to Thursday noon for the Friday (next day).

To continue to get your subscription through Canada Post, do nothing. We will continue to label it and drop the paper at the post office Friday morning, as ever.
