The scene on Saturday morning shows massive tress snapped like saplings and grain bins crumpled in Colangelo's yard.

Friends of Giovanni (Johnny) Colangelo have created an opportunity for people to help the Scarth area farmer who lost so much in the tornado on August 7.

Colangelo’s farmyard was where the twister unleashed its fury. It has recently been reclassified as n EF3 tornado with wind speeds at 260 km/h. Colangelo lost all his windbreak trees and much more as farm equipment was also damaged and the crop where debris was scattered for some two miles.

He is reported to have lost over 110,000 bushels of grain storage space as well as several pieces of farming equipment. With harvest approaching quickly, Colangelo is working to replace augers, bins and restore his swather to field-ready.

The following financial institutions in Virden are accepting donations: Sunrise Credit Union, CIBC and Scotiabank.
