Virden’s RCMP detachment along with other detachments in Westman are restricting in-person attendance, says Westman's Sgt. Scott Fefchak.
Manitoba RCMP has been taking safety precautions throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, to protect the members and the public. Early on, public access to Detachments were restricted. In the summer the rules relaxed throughout Manitoba as the province opened up.
However with the Province of Manitoba's current Covid-19 Code Red status, and under the recommendation of the D-Division Covid-19 Committee, Detachment front counter services are now restricted to the following:
1) Attendance to any detachment is by appointment only. The public must call the detachment prior to attending.
2) Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks can continue for essential services workers only.
There is no change to the RCMP's response to critical and emergency matters. Police officers continue to be present in the community to ensure community safety.
D-Division Headquarters is located in Winnipeg. The regional Westman Detachment is headquartered in Virden.
