Are you going to a baseball game? Don’t forget your lawn chair. From the fans’ point of view, Monday night’s SWBL game was a bare-bones event at the Virden diamond. With COVID-19 protocol, there’s no bleachers, no concession sales, and spectator peanuts or sunflower seeds are also a no-no. There was no scoreboard postings and no announcer.

Baseball action demanded full attention. The outfield for both teams was on their game, catching line-drives and high flies as the Virden Oilers took on the Hamiota Red Sox, their second match-up of the season. Virden took a loss of 8-2. (More baseball news page 11.)
