Baseball playoffs on the horizon

South West Baseball League VIrden Oilers last game of the regular season

Although they lost the game against the Dodgers, Virden Oilers made a good showing at Oak River on Friday evening, Aug. 7.

The score was close with the Oilers scoring the first two runs in the game. However, by the fifth inning the Dodgers got on the scoreboard with three runs in.

The game finished up 5-2 for the Oak River Dodgers. They are undefeated at the top of the league going into the playoffs.

Hamiota Red Sox are sitting second.

Midway down the charts, the Oilers and the Reston Rockets are tied and they will be in the playoffs with the Oilers next game, Tuesday night, Aug. 11 is at Boissevain.

Hamiota hosts the Reston Rockets tomorrow night, the 11th, as well.

Finals will be played in Oak River on August 15-16.
