Boy dies on Hwy 83 north

A 17-year-old boy from Birdtail Sioux First Nation lost his life when he was struck on Highway 83, late Wednesday, July 31.

According to reports on CBC news and the Brandon Sun, Yellowhead RCMP were called to the scene at 11:15 p.m.

The teen is reported to have been lying on the road when he was struck by a vehicle, RCMP said, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Occupants of the vehicle that struck the teen were taken to hospital with minor injuries. 

The accident occurred about 13 kms north of Miniota. No further details are available at this time.
