She never gave up, she never stopped smiling.

That’s what Kent Coulter wants us to remember about his daughter Brandi who passed away in an Edmonton Hospital on Jan. 5 at age 18.

He says she was fighting right to the end when the difficult decision to say goodbye was made for her.

Brandi had many friends and family members in the Virden area who marveled at her strength and happy spirit as she waited for a new heart.

She and her twin sister Kyla were both born with heart defects, but Brandi’s was more complicated; she had her first heart transplant at age eight, and ten years later she needed a new one.

After she fought her way onto the heart transplant list, she was hit by one complication or infection after another and fell off the transplant list again.

Although she didn’t live in Virden at the time of her passing, Brandi grew up here and most of her relatives still live in the area. Her memorial service and interment will be in Virden:

Fri. Jan. 18, 2019, 2 pm.

St. Paul’s United Church, Virden.
