Break-ins at Oak Lake and Virden

During the week of Feb. 17 - 24, Westman RCMP dealt with 62 police activities.

Feb. 18 - RCMP were dispatched to a report of a break and enter in the industrial area of Virden. Suspects had gained entry into a truck on the property, and were captured on video doing so. They have all been identified, and the investigation is continuing.

Feb. 19 - RCMP were called regarding an identity fraud. The complainant in the matter advised that her sister had been impersonating her to avoid getting charged under the highway traffic act. The investigation is continuing.

Feb. 19 - RCMP were dispatched to a report of a sexual assault that occurred in Virden. The investigation is continuing.

Feb. 21 - RCMP were advised of an impaired driver leaving Sioux Valley. Patrols were conducted, and the vehicle was located in Kenton. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance and breath samples were obtained showing the driver to be over double the legal limit. She was released for a future court date.

Feb. 21 - RCMP were dispatched to a break and enter in Oak Lake. A property owner caught two people stealing antiques from his property through video surveillance. After investigating the matter, the subjects have been identified and once arrested will be facing charges of breaking and entering and theft. 

Feb. 23 - RCMP were dispatched to Sioux Valley for a report of a mentally unstable individual. While dealing with that situation, police were threatened and assaulted by two other persons. Both were arrested and are facing charges of assaulting a police officer, uttering threats and obstruction.

There were 25 traffic enforcement actions taken during this reporting period.
