Bringing art outdoors for five years

On a hot August afternoon, most residents and visitors to Oak Lake Beach would normally head for the shade or the water.

On a hot August afternoon, most residents and visitors to Oak Lake Beach would normally head for the shade or the water. But last Sunday, the streets of the resort town were alive with art lovers defying the searing sun in the name of art appreciation.

It was the community’s fifth annual Art Walk put together by two local visual artists, Bev Karnes and Lesley Moffitt.

Visitors meandered up and down the normally quiet streets, stopping to admire the art displayed in the yards of individual homes.

They got to ogle and buy everything from quilts and wood carvings to needle felting and garden decor (with a few yard sales thrown in for extra fun).

Although the number of participating artists was down slightly from previous years to nine, there was a steady stream of guests passing through the cool, shady yards full of beauty and originality.
