On Thursday afternoon, Aug. 16, the RM of Wallace-Woodworth announced an immediate burn ban across the municipality in light of the dry conditions.
As a Level 2 burn ban, this bylaw prohibits all open burning, and yard waste burning including restricted yard waste until further notice.
Individuals who contravene this burning ban are subject to a penalty of $1,000 and are also responsible for all costs incurred by the Municipality in fire suppression if the fire department is called to extinguish a fire.
This brings to three the number of rural municipalities in the Virden area that have implemented burn bans: Archie-Ellis and Pipestone are the other two.
