During the week of March 22nd to March 28th, the Westman RCMP dealt with 53 police activities.

 

March 22 – RCMP were dispatched to Virden for a report of a domestic assault. Subsequent to investigation it was determined that no assault occurred. Both involved parties were separated for the evening.

March 22 – RCMP received a report of several historical assaults that occurred stemming from an abusive relationship. The matter is still under investigation.

March 22 – RCMP were dispatched to Oak Lake Beach for a report of two missing children who were last seen playing outdoors. They were located shortly thereafter.

March 23 – RCMP were dispatched to a residence in Virden for a potential suicidal threat. Upon attending it was learned the individual was upset about several things occurring in his life however he was not suicidal.

March 23 – RCMP were dispatched to Virden for a report of a missing 14-year-old boy. He was located by a family member shortly after the report was made.

March 24 – RCMP were dispatched to Sioux Valley for a report of an assault. Upon police attending, several individuals were intoxicated and would not co-operate with a police investigation. A male was arrested as he was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself. He was released the following morning when he was sober.

March 25 – RCMP were dispatched to Sioux Valley for a report of an assault. EMS attended and transported the female victim to the Virden hospital. The victim would not tell police what happened, and did not appear to have any injuries. She requested the police drive her to Brandon, she was respectfully turned down and it was suggested she call a taxi or a family member. It is suspected she originally wanted a ride to Brandon via EMS.

March 26 – RCMP were dispatched to Sioux Valley for a report of a disturbance/banging noises inside a residence. Upon police attendance, it was determined an intoxicated female dropped her reaching stick while trying to turn off a light.

March 27 – RCMP were dispatched to Virden for a report of someone knocking on a door at a residence at night. Patrols of the area were made, no suspects were located.

March 27 – RCMP conducted a court-imposed curfew check at a residence in Sioux Valley. A 25-year-old male was found to be in breach of his curfew. Attempts are currently being made to locate and arrest him.

March 28 – RCMP were dispatched to Sioux Valley for a report of four people walking by someone’s house and mocking the complainant. Subsequent to investigation it was determined that the complainant was intoxicated and the mocking did not occur.

Two Covid compliance checks and eight traffic enforcement actions were undertaken during this reporting period.
