It was K & T's Kitchen and its variety of colorful soft and hard ice creams and other take-out treats. Tamara Bajus, is no stranger to the food service scene in Elkhorn, as she has been running the school canteen for the last few years with a variety of homemade and nutritious lunches.

Some interesting community items marked July1 - shop windows were decorated Canada Day and children came to the spray park to stay cool and have fun.

A military style jeep with Canada Day decorations drove through the village, stopping at the museum, the seniors’ home, restaurant and along the main street to wave the flag and bring greetings.

Back at the memorial park a young couple from Ontario on their way to B.C. with a very unique travel trailer, stopped for a few hours visit to enjoy the park facilities. They met some of the local people on Canada Day, while enjoying the splash pad’s coolness.

Finally, a trip just outside the village, found a Canada Day pool party, with a group of former high school girlfriends and husbands enjoying the day, the sun and high school memories.

Canada Day 2021 was unlike any I have seen in my lifetime, but everyone I ran into was making the most of the situation. Happy 154th Birthday Canada! A country that’s the envy of much of the world.
