The rings are painted and the ice is prepped as Melita and Deloraine are ready to host the 2020 Manitoba Club Curling Championships.
The provincial championship is scheduled for March 12 to 15, with the majority of draws played in Melita, with Deloraine acting as a satellite venue.
The first draw for the 12 women’s and 12 men’s teams from across Manitoba is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, with the semi-finals and finals on Sunday in Melita.
Not only will the people of Melita and Deloraine be able to enjoy top notch curling, but the economic impact will also be a welcome addition to the area.
“I would like to wish all of the participants the best of luck and good sportsmanship,” said Melita Mayor Bill Holden. “This is a great opportunity to check out our newly completed Enns Brothers Place as well as enjoying some of the other amenities we have to offer.”
There will also be a local flavour to the Championships as Deloraine is represented in the women’s division by Liza Park (Skip), Meaghan Astle, Kristy Wells, and Megan Vandenberghe and Melita by the men’s team skipped by Brian Barker along with teammates Gary Barker, Randy Barker, and Darren Stewart.
Tickets can be purchased at the door at both the Melita and Deloraine Curling Clubs.
And make sure to look for the special pull out feature of the 2020 Manitoba Club Curling Championships in numerous locations in town.
