Dauphin man jailed for manslaughter

A series of violent incidents occurred in Dauphin early this summer

A man, stuggling for life was looking for help when knocked on the door of a residence in Dauphin. This was on July 15 at nearly 2 a.m.

 

The homeowners called an ambulance and the injured man was taken to the Dauphin hospital, where he died from his injuries.

RCMP Major Crime Services was alerted immediately and took on the investigation, which is being treated as a homicide.

A suspect has since been charged with manslaughter. On July 19, 2021, Cheyenne Beaulieu, a 30-year-old male from Dauphin, Manitoba, was charged and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Dauphin on Tuesday, July 20. 

Canada Day shooting

On July 1, 2021, at approximately 11:30 pm, Dauphin RCMP responded to a shooting incident on 5th Avenue NE in Dauphin, Manitoba. A 25-year-old male was walking on the sidewalk when he received gunshot wounds to his lower body.

Officers determined the shots came from inside a residence. RCMP contained the area around the residence. The suspect exited the home and was arrested without incident. There had been other people in the home at the time, but there were no other injuries.

The suspect and the victim knew eachother.

An 18-year-old male was taken into custody. The victim was transported to Winnipeg hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Gun incident in June

On June 16, Dauphin RCMP were made aware that a man had been seen with a firearm and had shot at another man. Officers began an investigation with the limited information they had, and on June 22, they were able to locate the victim, a 22-year-old male who had arrived home on the evening of June 4, 2021, with a gunshot wound to the hand. The matter was not reported to police and the male did not attend to the hospital.

Investigators located the suspect Jericho Flatfoot, 24, from Mineegoziibe (Pine Creek First Nation). He was arrested on June 26, 2021, and charged with numerous firearms offences, Assault with a Weapon, and Aggravated Assault. Flatfoot was remanded in custody.

The firearm has not been recovered. The investigation continues.
