The Oak River Dodgers are once again champions of the South West Baseball League.

On Sunday, the Dodgers claimed the senior AA baseball league title with a 13-0 win over Boissevain. It was the second straight championship for the squad as well as its third in four seasons. When asked what allowed the team to repeat, coach Derek Shamray said:

“Great bunch of guys who get along and play the game the right way.”

The Dodgers only lost one SWBL tilt in 2020. After going undefeated in the regular season, Oak River hosted the four-team double elimination tournament for the SWBL crown. The Dodgers downed Reston, 4-0, and Boissevain, 22-3, on Saturday to earn a spot in the finals. On Sunday, Boissevain beat Oak River, 2-1 to force a second and final game. Powered by 17 hits, the Dodgers won it 13-0.

Miniota’s Connor Lewis saw action for the Dodgers this season as well as playing in the midget age category. Virden product Zane Sawyer earned the save in Boissevain’s win on Sunday and took the loss in the final.
