The Pierson Initiation team played their first game at the Edward Sports Centre against Bottineau on Sunday, December 8.
A huge crowd of family and friends gathered to watch the only hockey team in town this year.
During the game, the Board dedicated and presented a plaque in honour of Ken Jones, a long time supporter of the arena and the many sporting events held there.
When Ken passed away last March, his family so graciously donated funds in his memory to the Edward Sports Centre.
This money was used towards repairing and replacing the flooring throughout the waiting room and kitchen. In turn, the Board wanted to recognize this donation and presented the family with the plaque which will remain in the arena for all to witness Ken’s love of his community and local sports.
Ken’s twin grandsons Nolan and Merrick Bugg and granddaughter Jovie Bugg played in the game in memory of their Grandpa. Pictured presenting the plaque is Board member Jason Bird (back row left) to Katie Jones Bugg, Lori Jones and Dwayne Bugg. In front: Jovie, Merrick, and Nolan.
