During the week of Feb. 8 - 14, Westman RCMP dealt with 43 police activities with the following dispatches:

 

Feb. 8 – to Virden for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a parking lot. Police followed up with the registered owner who advised the vehicle had a flat tire so it was left overnight.

Feb. 9 – to Melita for a report of a copper theft. The matter remains under investigation.

Feb. 9 – to Virden for a threats complaint. There was a dispute between two individuals over money. Ultimately, they went their separate way and there was no further need for police intervention.

Feb. 9 – to Oak Lake for a report of a structure fire. Subsequent to investigation, it was determined the fire was not suspicious.

Feb. 9 – to a 911 call in Virden. Subsequent to investigation, it was determined that a domestic assault has occurred. A 30-year-old male was arrested, and released on a future Court date on the condition that he have no further contact with the victim.

Feb. 10 – to Melita for a report of a Break and Enter to the bus garage. The suspect used bolt cutters to cut the lock and gain entry. A mig welder was stolen from the property. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 11 – to Virden for a report of a vehicle theft. The suspect stole the keys from an unlocked garage and proceeded to take the truck. The truck was later located in Elkhorn where another vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was stolen from an unlocked garage and the keys were left in it. The vehicle was recovered in Alberta in a field just outside of Calgary.

Feb. 12 – to Sioux Valley for a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was located shortly thereafter however it had some damage to the front bumper. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 13 – to Sioux Valley for a report of a domestic assault. Subsequent to investigation, a 40-year-old male was arrested and released on a future Court date on the condition that he have no further contact with the victim.

Feb. 14 – to Sioux Valley for a report of a female threatening self harm. The female was co-operative and willing to accept help. She was brought to the hospital via ambulance for further assistance.

Feb. 14 – to Sioux Valley for a report of female suffering from a suspected drug withdrawal. She was transported to the hospital via EMS to receive further assistance.

Feb. 14 – to Sioux Valley for a report of a disturbance at a residence. A 40-year-old male was highly intoxicated and unable to care for himself so he was arrested and released the following morning when sober.

Feb. 14 – to Sioux Valley for a 911 call, yelling heard in the background. Subsequent to investigation it was determined that two people had been assaulted. The accused left on foot, however was later located by police. The accused resisted arrest however he was safely taken into custody without injury. The 32-year-old male was remanded into custody, and is facing Two counts of Assault, two counts of uttering threats, one count of resisting arrest and breaching his probation.

Four COVID compliance checks and six traffic enforcement actions were undertaken during this reporting period.
