A multi unit force descended on a residence in downtown Brandon where a loaded gun and drugs were seized.

On Saturday, Nov. 28 as a result of an ongoing investigation, the Manitoba West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST), along with assistance from officers from the Turtle Mountain and Blue Hills Detachments, the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Police Dog Services (PDS) and the Brandon Police Service, executed a search warrant at a residence located on Rosser Avenue, in Brandon.

As a result of the search a loaded handgun was seized, along with 189 grams of cocaine, cash and drug related paraphernalia.

RCMP arrested 24-year-old Shayan Khan, of Surrey, B.C.

Charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and numerous firearms offences, Khan was taken into custody and was scheduled to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court later the same day, Dec. 1.

RCMP continue to investigate.

A press release says the RCMP remains fully committed to enforcing laws against illicit drugs to their fullest extent as those who produce and traffic illicit drugs destroy lives, homes and communities.
