Fraud continues to be a concern

If a "friend" messages you asking for a gift card, it's likely a scam.

During the week of March 2 - March 9, the Westman RCMP dealt with 50 police activities.

March 2 - RCMP were dispatched to a property in Virden, for a person staying in the residence illegally after a renter had moved out.  Assistance was provided to the homeowner to remove the person. 

March 5 - RCMP were conducting traffic enforcement in Sioux Valley.  A vehicle was stopped, and the driver was found to be impaired. Breath samples were provided that found him to be above the legal limit. A 42-year-old male from Sioux Valley is facing impaired driving related charges.

March 6 - RCMP were dispatched to a report of a domestic assault in Sioux Valley. After investigation, a 26-year-old female was arrested and is facing charges relating to the assault.

March 8 - RCMP were called for a report of fraud. An individual was contacted and asked to send various gift cards to an email address. RCMP would like to remind the public to be wary of these fraud scams, as they are picking up in frequency.

March 8 - RCMP were dispatched to Sioux Valley for a report of an individual failing to comply with her court imposed release conditions. Upon attendance, a 20-year-old female was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her conditions.

RCMP responded to four false alarms and were involved in 17 traffic enforcements.
