Fundraiser held in Elgin for Braden Pettinger.

A fundraiser was held on March 5 in Elgin to support Braden Pettinger following his hockey injury in November 2015.  We were pleased to be able to offer our community support from his friends and neighbours.  Both attendance and support tickets were quickly sold for an evening of entertainment, auction and socializing.  Corny Rempel provided his rendition of Johnny Cash that was equally impressive with vocals and humor.  Corny even threw in songs as Ray Charles and Willie Nelson.  Very impressive talent!

The Committee would like to thank all the people and businesses that donated and sponsored auction and bucket items for the evening.  We would also like to show our appreciation to everyone who bid on the live auction items and silent auction items, purchased bucket raffle tickets and 50/50 tickets as well those who made generous donations.  The entertainment, lunch and hall costs were covered by sponsors as well.  We are sure to miss someone on the list of generous people and businesses, so we will just give our genuine thanks to all!!  We would also lie to acknowledge the Elgin and Area volunteer fire department for very capably manning the bar.  They looked quite impressive in their new shirts that were generously given in recognition for their volunteer efforts throughout the year.

Braden's father, Rick, was able to be in attendance and spoke of his son's continuing improvement and therapy.  Rick expressed how grateful and overwhelmed Braden and his family have been with all the encouragement, support and comfort they have received since Braden's injury.

Through the support and generosity of the residents and friends of the community, we are proud to say that we raised almost $39,000 to financially support Braden.  We also send everyone's personal best wishes in his future efforts on his journey.

The Committee members were Maralee and Cam Dodds, Marg and John Spratt, Cherilyn and Darryl Jackson, Meagan and Scott Perkin and Blair and Ardelle Woods.
