Funshine construction under way

It began as an idea hatched by two Virden moms in 2011. Now, seven years and many fundraisers later, construction has begun on the new Funshine Early Learning Centre in Virden. Heavy equipment is on site this week sinking the pilings for the $2.

It began as an idea hatched by two Virden moms in 2011. Now, seven years and many fundraisers later, construction has begun on the new Funshine Early Learning Centre in Virden.

Heavy equipment is on site this week sinking the pilings for the $2.2-million-dollar structure on the grounds of Virden Junior High.

The new centre is expected to provide 66 new child care spaces over and above the 35 at the existing Funshine on Oxford St.

In April, the provincial and federal governments ponied up the funding needed to proceed with the new building.
