Grant Gardiner: Candidate profile

For Virden council
Gardiner
Grant Gardiner, candidate for Virden council

I have lived in Virden and surrounding area my entire life. I am married to Valerie, and we have two grown children, Karla and Chad. We have four granddaughters and one grandson. I am a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and at times will help out the Oil Capitals by driving their bus. I coached hockey and ball when my kids were younger, and later coached the Virden Oil Kings Senior Hockey Team.

I am currently employed by Higg Electric in Virden as Equipment Operator, Safety and Parts Department. My 21 years of experience with the Department of Highways has provided me with insight on proper maintenance, construction of road repairs and pavement operation, and bridge inspections.

I was also a former Fort la Bosse School Division trustee, sitting on committees, such as Finances, Personnel & Salaries, and Transportation.

My main concern is the current maintenance of our streets and sewer system. I am also concerned about the quality of the town’s water, and am interested in working towards locating a new source for the town.

I believe I have some valid concerns and would like to see them addressed in the next four years. I feel my concerns are the same as many citizens in our town. If given the opportunity, I would speak on behalf of these citizens. I feel that I have the time and the effort to do a good job as a councillor.
