Yes, it’s sunny, but frostbite takes … well, Environment Canada doesn’t say how many minutes, but we know - cover your face and don’t be out for long.

Many dogs need mittens and a coat – which they hate – and just out for five minutes, (depending upon their own fur cover).

Fort La Bosse and Park West school divisions have shut down their buses and closed their schools today.

Environment Canada for the Virden area (out of a Melita weather station) says it’s going to be windy: west 20 km/h increasing to 40 gusting to 60 near noon. High minus 26. Wind chill minus 52 this morning and minus 42 this afternoon.

For those taking their forecast from the Shoal Lake air port reading the expected high is lower: minus 28. Wind chill minus 53 this morning and wind chill minus 45 this afternoon.

Frigid polar air escaped from the north and is here to stay for the week.
