Virden Lion Garnet Goodridge welcomes rider Brad Henderson in 2017 Journey for Sight ride.

The Lions Foundation of Manitoba & Northwestern Ontario, Inc. Journey for Sight ride will stop in Virden Saturday morning, Jan. 19.

Recent snow means the ride will go ahead and Garnet Goodridge, the local Lions ride organizer says snow machine riders expect to pull into Tim Hortons about 11:30 a.m. and stop there until about 1:00 p.m.

Their ride supports the Lions Eye Bank programs and will be accepting donations at Virden Recreation & Watersports, TansCanada Highway. Coffee and doughnuts are available from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. courtesy of the Virden Lions and Tim Hortons.

All funds raised are designated for the sole purpose of easing the burden many children and adults face with vision impairment. The funds are utilized by providing financial support for out of province, city or town surgeries, adaptive technology equipment, necessary equipment for health facilities, eye exams and eye wear. At this time used eyeglasses will also be collected for developing countries.

In 2018, Lions Eye Bank added free vision screening for children aged six months to six years through Lions Kidsight.
