Virden’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 8 capped off Legion Week with a gala banquet celebrating their 100 years of service to veterans and to the community of Virden.
Saturday night, Sept. 13 the crowd in the legion hall enjoyed a banquet featuring the pageantry and history of Branch 8 as recounted by story-teller and long-time member Hank Kyle.
Alice Kingdon, one of the longest serving Ladies Auxiliary members, brought greetings on behalf of LA President Chris Dunning.
Guest speaker Arnold Asham told of his struggles, successes and the story behind the dance troupe he started, before the Asham Stompers performed to applause, whoops and cheers of their audience.
