The Lenore 4-H Beef club re-organized in November with all 27 members. They elected a new executive: President - Jaylin Hill, Vice President - Ty Nykoliation, Secretary - Shane Anderson and Treasurer (second term) Lucy Boynton, leaders – Dallas George, Connie Hill and Allan Nykoliation.
The club’s second meeting along with weigh-day for the steers was held on Dec 22.
During January’s meeting plans were made for the club’s speech night that was held at the Lenore Hall on February 13. All the members did a great job presenting their speeches with the first and second place members moving on to Zone speeches.
Lenore Club was responsible for hosting Zone speeches which were held at Virden Collegiate on Feb 26, with eight clubs represented from the Virden Zone.
The club postponed all meetings and workshops in March due to COVID-19.
This past week the members were back out in the community, the club was asked to clean both the Kenton and Wallace garbage dumps. The members met at the Kenton Dump and cleaned till noon. The kids enjoyed lunch at Salt Lake, then went on to clean the Wallace dump in the afternoon.
The club followed all the COVID-19 rules set out by the Province and 4-H Manitoba throughout the day.
All the members were excited to hear that the Province of Manitoba’s Phase 3 included gatherings of up to and including 100 people outside, which allowed the club to host their achievement show and steer sale where the members will maintain social distancing.
Following the COVID-19 rules the steer sale will be at Heartland Livestock Service this year. There will be 19 steers for sale on July 7 @6:30. These steers can be processed for the buyer’s freezer or can be resold at the next auction mart sale.
