Lomer Girardin: Candidate profile

For Virden councillor
Girardin
Lomer Girardin for councillor

I am married to Bonnie (McLaren) and have two children and one grandson. I have been married to Bonnie almost 41 years. We moved to Virden from Winnipeg in 1985.

I have been employed at Virden Home Hardware since 2013 and have been plumbing since 1980. I owned my own plumbing business when we moved back to Virden. I worked at the hospital in maintenance for a short period of time and then I was the maintenance foreman of Fort La Bosse for 19 years.

I was in the Lions Club for a few years and currently belong to the Knights of Columbus in Virden. I was also on the Virden Credit Union board for a four-year term. I now sit on the boards for the Princess Lodge, Bolton Place and Evergreen Place. I am also a Legion member.

I have been on Town Council for two terms now and have thoroughly enjoyed my time. I am running for Councillor again because I am interested in keeping our town thriving and alive. I am open to hearing the comments and concerns of the residence of Virden to help the community grow and stay together.

Some of my priorities for this term, with the help of the Mayor and the rest of Council, are to get new businesses in town to help the economy and address the pool breakdowns so residences and visitors do not have to go to surrounding areas.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
