Manitoba's case load for COVID-19 has nearly doubled, going from eight cases to 15 with a number of new presumptive cases.

According to the most recent update from the Manitoba government, another seven presumptive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Manitoba.

Most cases involve people in their 40s or older, with five of the seven cases reported within Winnipeg. The two remaining presumptive cases involve a man and a woman, both in their 60s from within the Southern Health Sante-Sud Health Region.

More than 2,000 tests have been completed in Manitoba. Testing stations for COVID-19 are now open in Winnipeg, Thompson, Flin Flon and The Pas, with more likely to open in the coming days. Another site, the eighth to open in Manitoba, will open in Brandon Wednesday at the Nurses' Residence gymnasium at Brandon Regional Health Centre. All testing sites operate by referral only and are not to be used as walk-in clinics.

Within Manitoba, licenced child care centres will be suspended from March 20 to April 10, with plans currently underway to provide child care services for some workers, including front-line health providers, who will need to stay working through the outbreak. A recommendation has been made to suspend all visits to personal care homes, with all adult day programs and similar programs being advised to stop at once.

Any Manitoban worried they may either have or have been exposed to COVID-19 is asked to call the Health Links-Info Sante hotline at 204-788-8200 or 1-888-315-9257. Shared Health Manitoba also has an online tool to determine whether or not any reported symptoms demand action.
