Meet Virden’s New Economic Development Manager

Liza Park has joined the Town of Virden as their new EDM (Economic Development Manager), taking up the job recently held by EDO (Economic Development Officer) Ed Brethour.  

What Park Brings to the Job

For the past seven years, Park was the EDO/Recreation Director for the Municipality of Deloraine-Winchester. She spearheaded the formation of the regional recreation district and is President of Tourism Westman.

She’s an avid curler and golfer who enjoys cooking, reading and meeting people.

The mother of two hockey players (boys 12 and 18), Park and her partner Tim Barron continue to live in Deloraine.

“I am very excited to come work with the Town of Virden. I have always believed in and promoted rural Manitoba as an opportunity for development, business, tourism and family lifestyle.”

On the announcement of her new job, she told the Deloraine Times & Star that she was excited about the challenge and the chance to continue promoting rural Manitoba.

Plans to Dig Deeper

“It’s going to allow me to dig deeper into economic development and be involved with local and regional economic projects.”

She said she’s looking forward to meeting Virden business owners and community members to get their opinions on community development.
