Melita School session with BU Bobcats

On November 3, six Melita School students attended a basketball skills camp at Brandon University’s (BU) Healthy Living Centre. The session was facilitated by BU Bobcats Male Basketball Team Coach, Gil Cheung. Three other Bobcats helped out, namely: Patrick Jonas, Tiago Oliveria, and Elisha Ampofo. The young athletes went through various drills during the first part of the session. Later on, other youth basketball enthusiasts from Brandon joined the scrimmage. Students had a lot of fun and got a very good workout. Thank you to Coach Cheung, Bobcats, and Neil Franklin for making this opportunity possible.

Basketball season will start in January. Melita School’s teacher-in-charge of the basketball team will be Mr. Marshall Dunn. Melita and Deloraine will be activating their co-op for this upcoming basketball season. With the combined resources, there is a possibility for two teams, Junior Varsity and Varsity levels. Parent coaches helping with the Varsity Team are Coach Aaron Campbell and Coach Leon Rushing. The Junior Varsity comprised of Grades 7 and 8 will be coached by Mr. Dunn and AJ Laureola.
