My apologies on missing the names of Reign Denielle Weisensels, maternal great grandparents, Denis and Claudette Simard of St. Lazare. Congratulations on this sweet bundle.

Birthday greetings are being sent to Irene Armitage of Birch Lodge, Hamiota on the occasion of her 95th birthday. Wishing you a happy day, Irene.

A son, Kyler Randy Stonehouse, was born to Angie and Devrin Stonehouse of Elkhorn on March 9, at the Brandon Hospital. Congratulations to Angie and Devrin and Kyler’s siblings Blair and Jory. Kyler is also welcomed by grandparents Randy and Ollie McKean of Miniota and Darwin and Donna Stonehouse of Elkhorn as well as great-grandparents Dorothy Argue of Miniota and Francie Stonehouse and Grace Watson of Elkhorn.

Congratulations to Luke and Courtney Muir on the birth of Lainey Jean, born on March 12 at the Brandon Hospital. Lainey is welcomed by her siblings Jake, Gracie and Kinsley. Lainey is fortunate to be welcomed by grandparents Mike and Deb Muir, Cindy Nolan, Ken and Marie Nolan; maternal great-grandparents Norm and Bev Bridgeman, and Karyn Nolan; and paternal great-grandparents Jim Muir and Bill and Jean Noble from England.

Hope everyone has adjusted to the change in time and is enjoying the longer evenings and this beautiful weather.

A quote to end this week’s news: “Gratitude is a vitamin for our emotions immune system. It inoculates us against the bruises of life by reminding us of what we have, and that we are enough.”

By the time this paper is out St. Patrick's Day will be past and gone for another year. Just a comment or two about St Patrick's Day, a global celebration of Irish culture that takes place annually on March 17. We also commemorate St. Patrick, a missionary who converted many of the island's inhabitants to Christianity in the 5th century. I like green and I like the shamrock so I like March 17.

Spring is in the air across much of Canada. Winter is officially coming to an end, however it should come as no surprise that the threat of wintry weather is not over yet. The forecast says we can still expect some parting shots from winter.  Spring is notorious for its changeable temperatures. This year could be the same, and test our patience as we wait for consistent warm weather. Let's hope for the best.

Many quotes can be found about Spring. Victor Hugo said, "If people did not love one another, I really don't see what use there would be in having any Spring." Very well said!

About Spring fever, Mark Twain said, "It's Spring fever. That is what the name of it is.  And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!"

Many residents at Evergreen have groceries from the Co-op delivered. We can now pay by debit card when they are delivered. This is so helpful and greatly appreciated.

Our hairdresser, Debbie Bender, is having a draw for a free haircut on Mar. 17. She has entered every resident's name for the draw. This is a bit of excitement for us. Good luck. Thank you, Debbie!

Happy Spring to all of you. I miss my many friends because of the self-isolating. When will it change?

Quote for the Day: "The first day of Spring is one thing and the first Spring Day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month.” - Henry van Dyke
