Pioneer Museum's Endowment Fund

Dear Editor,

At the end of this past September we were fortunate enough to have raised $3,575 in our endowment fund. Therefore, on Sept. 30 we were eligible for our first "stretch dollars" from the Provincial Government. On our last Interim Fund Report received from the Winnipeg Foundation (holder of the Endowment Fund on our behalf) our balance in our “Heritage - Virden Pioneer Home Museum Fund" has reached $5,652.50 as of November 17, 2018.

We would like to sincerely thank all the donors who have supported us during our first six months. As you are aware, our goal is to raise $150,000 in our Endowment Fund by Mar. 31, 2021 which is the last date that we can earn "Stretch Dollars" from the Government. This might appear as a lofty goal to some people but as this Endowment Fund is held in perpetuity on our behalf, it is just the interest earned that we will be able to use for special projects in the Museum at the end of this Government Stretch Dollars Program in 2021. Our Museum Board will have to continue fundraising by ourselves after that date in hopes of reaching our goal.

The Virden Pioneer Home Museum Board would like to encourage all our local people as well as those family and friends who may have moved to other locations but still would like to support our local Virden Pioneer Home Museum either for day to day expenses or to help grow our "Heritage - Virden Pioneer Home Museum Endowment Fund” to please contact us.

Your financial support is very important to enable our Board to continue in the management and preservation of our heritage building and all the artifacts contained within its walls, generously donated by families locally and from the surrounding area.

At this time, we would also like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year in 2019 as well.
